Prosesor AMD : Opteron
Kreasi awal mikroprosesor AMD pada teknologi x86-x64 : AMD Opteron
Adalah mikroprosesor AMD berarsitektur 32-64bit yang dikhususkan pada segmen server and workstation. Dirilis kali pertama pada 22 April 2003, dengan nama corenya SledgeHammer (tipe K8) . Pada 10 September 2007 AMD merilis Opteron berkonfigurasi quad-core berbasiskan arsitektur AMD K10 yang diberi nama Barcelona.
Pada pengembangan berikutnya prosesor Opteron ditingkatkan menjadi 6 core dalam satu chip, seperti gambar dibawah ini;
